Creamy Sausage and Tomato Pasta

Creamy Sausage and Tomato Pasta

This creamy sausage pasta has truly become a favorite over the last few months. It has few ingredients, but it is surprisingly flavorful and surprisingly quick and easy to put together. I just came across this recipe in the last two months, but I have already made it several times for company and several times for our family. So far it has gotten rave reviews all around. It is easy enough for a weeknight meal but nice enough for company or for a special meal. We just had this Saturday night for one of our Easter gatherings along with some salad and homemade French bread.I found this recipe at The Girl Who Ate Everything, and I followed it almost exactly, so I am going to link to her recipe and just add a few details here:

*The recipe calls for Italian sausages. I follow her note at the end of the recipe and always make this with Italian turkey sausage. I have not been able to find spicy at my local stores, so I have been using Jennie-O’s sweet Italian turkey sausage. Sausage tomato pasta sauce

*I have always used heavy cream for the sauce, but I think it would work as well with half and half if you want to lighten it up a little bit.

*To make this dish a little healthier I have been using a whole grain or multigrain penne pasta.

*The recipe calls for fresh basil which is delicious, but it is not always available or affordable, so I have used 2 tsp. of dry basil instead with good results.

I hope your family loves this recipe as much as ours does. It is one of my favorite dishes right now, so I recommend you give it a try soon. Click the title to get to the recipe: Creamy Sausage and Tomato Pasta
