S’mores Ice Cream {without a machine!}

inside goodiesI don’t know which speaks of summer more–ice cream or s’mores. There is nothing better than ice cream on a hot summer day, but there is nothing better than ending a night of camping with a gooey s’more by the campfire.

What to do? What to do?

Put them together, of course!

4th of July Krispies

festive traysThe first of July is already upon us!! This is the half-way point for my kids’ summer vacation because they go back to school at the first of August. I can’t believe it’s true.

The first of July means the 4th of July is soon to follow….obviously. These festive krispie treats will be a big hit at your barbecues, parties, or get-togethers. Almost everyone loves krispie treats, and as an added bonus, many people with allergies can enjoy them too. Being no-bake is also a great feature for the hot days of summer.

Hawaiian Millionaire Pie

millionaire pieMany years back, my boyfriend happened to mention in conversation that he used to love the Millionaire Pie that was served at Furr’s Cafeteria in Colorado Springs. Furr’s had closed years ago, but he still remembered the pie. As is my custom, I set out to find a recipe so I could make the pie and surprise him with it some time. Terry was quite thrilled with this version and thought it matched his memory well.

Decorated Cakes

dressesI know it’s been pretty quiet around here on the blog lately. I thought summer would bring a little more rest and a lightened schedule to our lives, but it seems my days have been overflowing from one to another, and my blog (and garden) have had to fall to the bottom of the priority list. Before we know it, talk of the 4th of July will be here. It just can’t be…
