Buttermilk Waffles

breakfast plateI know I’ve written this before, but my kids like nothing better for supper (or lunch or breakfast) than breakfast. They love pancakes, crepes, waffles, bacon, eggs, fruit–all of it. Breakfast for birthday meals has become a thing around here in the past year too–including the grown-ups. Breakfast foods just seem to make us all happy.

pieces goneWhat do you think of when you hear the word ‘scones’? Until recently, I thought they were something fancy but dry as dirt and tasteless. Not anymore.

Peach Pie Shake

peach shake 1Summer has been a blur. My kids went back to school yesterday, and I can hardly believe it. There are mixed feelings–some regret for the things we didn’t get done over the summer, some sadness that they are already as old as they are, and some pure joy that I get to go back to grocery shopping all by MYSELF.

Classic Chicken Salad

lunch 2I love this chicken salad! It is creamy and crunchy and cool and refreshing and exactly the flavor profile I like in chicken salad. It always seems like just the right sort of thing for a spring or summer lunch or brunch. Serve it on a croissant, and it is even better.

I have used this recipe for everything from bridal brunches to picnics to lunch with a friend. It is always a hit….well, for women anyway. I recently realized that for some reason, men don’t usually seem to get it. They wonder, “Why did you put fruit in with the meat?”

And I think, “Duh. Because it is delicious!”
