Happy New Year 2016

Happy New Year from Christine’s Taste of Heaven!

Thank you to everyone who has read my blog, commented, shared or pinned a post, or encouraged me in some way. It means the world to me, and I appreciate you all so much. I am looking forward to a great (and yummy) 2016, and I hope you will join me for the journey. May the year ahead be blessed abundantly!

So if anyone is in Christ, there is a new creation: everything old has passed away; see, everything has become new!

{Skinny} Taco Dip

ready to eatPretty much everyone loves seven-layer taco dip, right? It is definitely a family favorite for us. This version has been lightened up a little with the use of some reduced fat products, but no one will even know because it still has all of the great flavors everyone loves. This dip almost always makes an appearance for us at New Year’s Eve as well as many family get-togethers throughout the year. I’m sure it would be welcome at your table for New Year’s or for football watching too.

Baked Potato Skins

With New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day this week and some sport (football, I think?) on the next many weekends, I figured now is the time to share some appetizer recipes. I know we often have snacks and appetizers for our New Year’s Eve meal here. I doubt we are the only ones.

These potato skins.

Christmas traditions are precious to many families. For some, it is the family gathering together for a meal, attending a midnight Christmas Eve service, the decision about when it’s time to open the presents, or maybe some special ornaments or decorations that come out every year. A common tradition is to make some of the same foods and treats year after year.

Happy Birthday Jesus Krispie Cake

tree1Recently, the director of my church’s preschool program approached me about making a cake for the school’s Happy Birthday, Jesus party. The problem is that some of the kids in the school have severe allergies–gluten, eggs, dye, etc. She really wanted a treat for the children but was limited in her choices. She did not want to single anyone out by having separate treats for those with allergies but wanted something everyone could enjoy.
